United in Struggle “Popular Resistance’’
Occupied Palestine, September 2019
For generations, Palestinians have been living under – and struggling against – Israel’s regime of colonialism, apartheid and occupation. Israel employs an intricate system of racist policies and practices to entrench its colonial occupation aimed at the ethnic cleansing of our people from our land. As Palestinians, we are facing daily violations of our human rights and international law, including the ongoing construction of illegal colonies and Walls destroying our land, uprooting ancient olive trees and barring us access to our fields.
The far-right Trump administration has reinforced US support for Israel, the illegal occupant, including through the so-called ‘deal of the century’, and fully backs Israel’s plan to encage us in Gaza and the West Bank into isolated, walled-off ghettos on not more than 13% of our original homeland and annex all remaining land, while the majority of us remain refugees that are denied their right of return. In front of this concerted attack on our people, the international official community remains complacent at best, if not in active complicity with Israeli violations.
Palestinian grassroots popular resistance committees, networks and individuals have decided to come together at this crucial time to unite the popular struggle through organising a national and international conference under the title ‘United in Struggle’ that aims to develop a unified strategy to mobilise the Palestinian people and to bring together the struggle of the old and the young, the workers and the farmers, women, campaigns for boycotts and for steadfastness. We want to contribute to the overdue unity of our people as such; Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, Gaza Strip, Palestinians inside the Green Line and those in the diaspora.
Today, we are not only living a dangerous moment in history for the Palestinian people but for humanity. Our resistance is part of a larger need to unite the people struggling for justice globally. We intend to strengthen coordination and networking with international solidarity and social justice movements and foster transnational actions. Against Israeli apartheid and the globally rising tide of far-right regimes, we can only succeed if we stand together.
Therefore, the popular committees and the popular resistance networks invite all those that are fighting oppression, discrimination, racism and colonisation across the globe to join us in the ‘United in Struggle’ from 24-26 October in Palestine to build a united front against racism, repression, colonialism, exclusion and exploitation. Let’s join hands in a common struggle for justice and freedom.
